Business Development Representative – Managed IT Services

Description:

Capital Data Service, Inc. is seeking a motivated, results-driven Business Development Representative to help grow our Managed IT Services practice. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, solving business problems, and guiding small to mid-sized businesses toward smarter, more secure technology decisions.

You will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities and setting meetings with new prospective clients for upper management. While technical expertise is helpful, success in this role depends on strong communication, curiosity, and the ability to connect technology solutions to real business needs.


What You’ll Do:

Sales & Business Development

  • Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities through cold outreach, referrals, networking, and digital prospecting
  • Conduct discovery calls to understand client goals, challenges, and IT environments
  • Present and position managed IT services, cloud solutions, cybersecurity services, backup and recovery, and helpdesk support in a consultative manner
  • Arrange, schedule, and participate in meetings with prospective clients for upper management.

Pipeline & Account Management

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the CRM, including leads, activities, forecasts, and notes
  • Build and manage a consistent pipeline to support monthly and quarterly revenue goals
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth onboarding and long-term client success

Relationship Building & Growth

  • Establish trusted, long-term relationships with clients and prospects
  • Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling additional services as client needs evolve
  • Represent the company professionally at meetings, events, and networking opportunities

Market Awareness & Collaboration

  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies affecting SMBs
  • Work closely with technical and leadership teams to align solutions with client needs

What We’re Looking For:

Required Experience & Skills

  • 2+ years of Business Development experience, preferably in IT services, Managed Services, or B2B technology.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, business-focused value
  • Experience using CRM tools to manage leads and opportunities
  • Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working toward performance goals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with MSP offerings such as managed services, cybersecurity, cloud solutions, and IT support
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred, not required)
  • Experience selling to small or mid-sized businesses
