Founded in 1943 by Howard Sheppard, Sr. and incorporated in 1969, Howard Sheppard, Inc. has over sixty years of experience as a motor carrier. Located in the heart of the clay industry, Howard Sheppard, Inc. is proud of its record of service as the oldest and largest carrier domiciled in the clay belt.

They have a diversified fleet equipped to handle crude ores, liquid, dry bulk, packaged freight and containerized freight.

Information Technology plays a critical role in day-to-day operations at Howard Sheppard, Inc. Core business is managed by an IBM i5 server running i5/OS. In fact, the trucking company was strictly an IBM midrange shop until fall of 2005 when Capital Data Service implemented aWindows Domain Controller as well as a Microsoft Exchange Server. Both Microsoft servers are integrated with the IBM i5 to ensure security, consolidate administration, storage and back up processes. After implementing the Windows environment it was quickly discovered that there was a need to be able to perform file level restores when files may be accidentally deleted or overwritten by users. Being able to revert to the previous version without involving Howard Sheppard’s Information Technology staff would give users the ability to look at the previous version of files improving information accuracy
and security.
